In my PhD research, I aim to understand memory and spatial cognition mechanisms in the hippocampus. For this, I combine multi-area electrophysiology techniques with chemogenetic neurointervention methods to correlate changes in neural representations of space with cognitive deficits. Aside from research, a substantial part of my project is spent on supervising bachelor and master students, organizing workshops and teaching MATLAB applied to neuronal data for master students at the UvA. In addition, I partake as a member of the teaching committee of the ONWAR graduate school for PhD students from Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht.
